On February 10, 2012 the German Design Council awarded the winners of the German Design Award. One of the highlights of the event was the announcement of the winner of the Newcomer Award, namely Stephanie Jasny. Andreas Haug and Tom Schönherr of Pheonix Design received the Personality Award. On January 9, 2012 the jury of experts consisting of high-ranking business managers, academics, journalists and politicians – including Andrej Kupetz, General Manger of the German Design Council – selected the winners of the competition “365 Places in the Land of Ideas”. Yet despite acknowledgement of this fact, brand management is not accorded the necessary attention. This is the alarming result of the 2011 Monitor Marken-führung study, which the German Design Council in cooperation with GMK Markenführung presented to the public for the first time at the Deutscher Marken- und Designkongress in Kassel on November 24. After two days of concentrated effort, the jury had decided on the winners of the 2012 German Design Award on the evening of August 12, 2011. The ten jurors selected 25 winners in the category Product Design and 24 in Communication Design.
