Jürgen Mayer H. curates the German Design Loft

On October 26, 2011 in the course of the joint press conference with the German Design Loft in Berlin, the German Design Council will present the first communication platform for premium and luxury German brands with a focus on design. The innovative concept was developed to strengthen the participating companies’ presence on the international market. To this end, various curated, temporary exhibitions with products from the areas of home, property and lifestyle are to be presented to an international audience via this mobile platform. As curator and exhibition organizer of the first German Design Loft, the German Design Council called upon the expertise of renowned architect Jürgen Mayer H. to curate the exhibitions. German Design Award 2012: The Winner

The winners of the German Design Award 2012 have been selected: The jury has chosen 25 winners in the area of Product Design and 24 in Communication Design, while the Personality award goes to the founders and owners of Phoenix Design, Andreas Haug and Tom Schönherr. The five finalists for the Newcomer Award have also been established and named. The overall winner of the Newcomer Award is to be announced on February 10, 2012 at the international consumer goods trade fair “Ambiente” as part of the German Design Award 2012 award ceremony. YOUNG DESIGNERS MEET THE INDUSTRY | YDMI 2011 goes Hong Kong

Ten up-and-coming designers have one more reason to be happy: The German Design Council has selected them for the YDMI Days 2011. The young professionals can look forward to a diverse program and the unique opportunity to present themselves and their work to a wide international audience at one of the most important brand and design events in Asia. Product designers Kai Linke, Yi-Cong Lu, Eva Marguerre, Agnes Morguet, Marko Müller, Florian Schmidt and Christoph Thetard and communication designers Katja Baumann, Maria Fischer and Martina Morth will be representing up-and-coming German design in Hong Kong between November 25 and December 3, 2011. Interior Innovation Award 2012: Register now for the competition!

German Design Award 2012: Jury nominates five finalists for the Newcomer Award

The finalists for the Newcomer Award bestowed as part of the German Design Award 2012 have been unveiled: They are the communication designers Bastian Illerhaus, Alexander Lis und Sven Quadflieg, as well as the product designers Stephanie Nina Jasny and Marko Müller. As a result of the nomination four of them will receive EUR 2,500 each. The winner of the Newcomer Award can look forward to a grand EUR 15,000. However, just who has won the Newcomer Award is still a closely kept secret, which will only be aired in February 2012 during the German Design Award 2012 official prize-giving ceremony held at the Ambiente international consumer goods fair. Automotive Brand Contest 2011 – The prize-winners have been chosen

On 7 July 2011 the jurors chose the first 117 winners in the Automotive Brand Contest with 13 entries being awarded the cherished “Best of Best” distinction. Moreover, three entries also won the jury’s “Special Mention” prize. The jurors chose one winner each for the categories of “Innovation of the Year”, “Team of the Year”, “Brand of the Year” and “Agency of the Year”. The 2012 German Design Award is organized by the German Design Council and gives the crème de la crème in product and communication design the opportunity to compete with other top designers in the premium competition. The winner of this year’s Newcomer’s Prize, which is worth EUR 8,000 is Sebastian Herkner. Jury Chairman Roland Heiler said of the prize-winner: “Even at this early stage in his career Sebastian Herkner is attracting attention with his outstanding works.
