Design Plus since 1983

In 1983 the Design Plus Awards was launched for the consumer goods fair Ambiente by Messe Frankfurt in cooperation with the Rat für Formgebung/German Design Council and the Deutscher Industrie- und Handelskammertag. The competition has extended to an international well-known award and is successfully established as one of the leading design competitions in Germany. The Design Plus award is part of the Messe Frankfurt technical fairs ISH, Material Vision and Light + Building.

Design Plus powered by Light+Building 2010

Technological innovation, energy-efficiency and outstanding design: 44 top products with these qualities will be receiving the Design Plus powered by Light+Building Award. Two outstanding products of the exhibitors category and three design concepts in the young professionals category have been awarded with „Best of“. Additionally one design concept have been awarded with a special mention. The awarded products have been selected by an international jury. Along with the product’s design quality and overall conception, it’s innovatory factor and ist technical and ecological quality has been particulay important for the selection. The Quality of the Award becomes obvious by regarding the number of competiton entries: A total of 385 exhibitors and young designers altogether entered Messe Frankfurt’s newly revamped competition, half of the exhibitiors entries from abroad.

An extraordinarily captivating solution that combines balance with suspense. Furthermore the jury praised how well the light bulb is integrated and the very careful execution of every detail of this lighting concept.

The use of a single profile results in a beautifully formed lamp that creates a striking effect through reduction and minimalism. The jury explicitly emphasised the high haptic value of the design and its remarkable quality for a prototype.

Gym caused a stir with its locking magnetic arms that simultaneously supply the power. In the opinion of the jury a design concept that appears thoroughly easygoing, friendly and uncomplicated.
