A competition that highlights the societal significance of universal design. The Hessian State Award for Universal Design is aimed at companies, agencies, architects, designers and institutions that make a special contribution to universal design. It is awarded every two years by the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration and the Hessian Ministry of Finance; the German Design Council is responsible for organising and running the competition. As part of the competition, the ministries also present a young talent award aimed at students and graduates of design-related courses at universities in Hesse.
The award winners’ works are displayed at a special exhibition (in 2016, for example, on the occasion of the ZEIT conference 'Logistics & Mobility').
