100 Best Posters 25

News0Exhibition
After the final jury session, the Kulturforum of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin presents the winners of the competition “100 Best Posters 25 Germany Austria Switzerland” and offers insight into contemporary poster design.

The competition “100 Best Posters Germany Austria Switzerland” is one of the most important awards for poster design in the German-speaking region and annually honours outstanding graphic work.

In total, 676 entrants submitted 2,297 posters, including numerous individual posters and series. The international jury, composed of Enrico Bravi (Vienna), Malte Martin (Paris), Sascia Reibel (Berlin), Sven Tillack (Stuttgart) and Annik Troxler (Riehen near Basel), first carried out an online pre-selection before determining the 100 best posters of the year in the final session, chaired by Malte Martin. The awarded works are distributed across contributions from Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

The final jury session was marked by discussion, differing perspectives and a strong openness to exchange. The jurors particularly emphasised the diversity of the submitted works as well as the high design quality of the current year’s entries. It was repeatedly highlighted that the differing viewpoints within the jury led to engaging discussions and nuanced decisions. In the end, there was a shared appreciation of a selection that makes visible the diversity and breadth of contemporary poster design in the German-speaking region.

Among the awarded works is the poster series “100 Years of Neues Frankfurt” by Sandra Doeller, created on the occasion of the centenary of the urban planning programme founded in 1925. The designs reference the visual language of the 1920s and combine clear typography with a modern interpretation of Futura. As Matthias Wagner K, Director of the Museum Angewandte Kunst, notes, the series also reflects the experimental and forward-looking spirit of this design modernism.

Opening Exhibition and International Tour

The awarded posters will first be shown at the Kulturforum of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. The exhibition will then travel to various locations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as to Korea and further international venues.

In parallel with the exhibition, the yearbook “100 Best Posters 25” will be published in cooperation with Slanted Publishers (Karlsruhe).
