Currents. Design in Berlin

News0Event
For three days, Berlin will become a city-wide stage for design: a new series of events is putting the capital’s design scene in the spotlight.

Design journalists Jasmin Jouhar and Laura Ewert are putting Berlin’s product and interior design scene in the spotlight with “Currents. Design in Berlin”. From 10 to 12 September 2026, the German capital will become a city-wide stage for design for the first time. Showrooms, galleries and shops across the city will open their doors, with independent designers and established brands presenting new products, projects and collectibles. Talks and workshops will invite both industry professionals and design enthusiasts to take part. Group exhibitions will showcase emerging voices, weißensee kunsthochschule berlin will open its techLabs, and the Berlin University of the Arts will present outstanding semester projects in product design.

At the Eternithaus, the Currents Bar will become a meeting point for exchange and networking every evening. The format was developed by Berlin-based journalists Jasmin Jouhar and Laura Ewert in close dialogue with key figures from the city’s design scene. With “Currents. Design in Berlin”, they aim to offer new perspectives on Berlin and strengthen the city’s role as an international design hub, especially at a time when its future as a creative location is increasingly under pressure.

One of the city's greatest creative potentials lies in product and interior design.
Laura Ewert
