
From Berlin to Weimar: This Summer’s Design Degree Shows
In 2026, numerous German art and design universities once again invite the public to explore their campuses through open days, annual exhibitions and degree shows. Studios, workshops and seminar rooms become exhibition spaces, showcasing semester projects, graduation work, experimental initiatives and design concepts, alongside insights into current research and teaching approaches. Together, these presentations reveal the questions, materials and methods currently shaping design and artistic education.
Bauhaus University Weimar:
“summaery 2026” Annual Exhibition
Each year, students at Bauhaus University Weimar transform both the campus and the city into a vibrant stage for creative exchange. Representing the faculties of Architecture and Urbanism, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Art and Design, and Media, students and staff present their work, ideas and debates under the theme “prompt?”, developed conceptually by the Faculty of Media. Exhibitions and events take place on campus and at locations throughout Weimar and beyond.
Kunsthochschule Kassel:
Round Tour 2026
The Kunsthochschule Kassel once again opens its doors for its annual Rundgang (Round Tour). Workshops, studios and workspaces from the Fine Arts, Design, Art Education, Art History and Visual Communication programmes invite visitors to explore the latest student work.
Hochschule Pforzheim:
Design PF Summer Exhibition
DesignPF is bursting with ideas. This year’s Summer Exhibition at Hochschule Pforzheim celebrates the spirit of making. Hand-sprayed posters and a street-art-inspired wayfinding system highlight analogue design processes while setting the stage for student work. Across two days and five locations, students present semester and graduation projects spanning jewellery, mobility, graphic design, fashion and furniture.
Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach: 28th Rundgang
At the end of the summer semester, HfG Offenbach opens its doors to the public. Alongside the main campus, exhibitions and events take place at the former savings bank building on Marktplatz, the studio building on Geleitsstraße, Hafenspace and, in cooperation with the World Design Capital programme, the site of the university’s future campus extension. The opening party transforms Schlossplatz into an open-air club, followed by a film screening at the new campus site on Saturday evening.
Weissensee School of Art and Design Berlin: Rundgang 2026
The Weissensee School of Art and Design Berlin offers insights into the creative and research processes of emerging artists and designers. Students from Sculpture, Stage and Costume Design, Painting, Fashion Design, Product Design, Textile and Surface Design, Visual Communication and Foundation Studies, as well as the master’s programmes in Spatial Strategies and Art Therapy, present their work.
Folkwang University of the Arts, Essen: Rundgang 2026
Visitors to Folkwang University’s annual Rundgang can expect a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary artistic and design work across a variety of media. The programme offers insights into Photography, Industrial Design and Intermedia Design, complemented by music, dance and performance events, the exhibition Quartier Nord, alumni talks and the traditional Rundgang party.
Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design
The annual exhibition at Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design presents projects from all departments and degree programmes, including Communication Design, Product Design, Media Art, Exhibition Design & Scenography, and Art Research & Media Philosophy. The exhibition is accompanied by a diverse programme of guided tours, screenings and talks.
Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin: WERKSCHAU 2026
Department 5 | School of CULTURE + DESIGN at Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin celebrates its annual WERKSCHAU and welcomes prospective students and visitors interested in culture and design. More than 1,500 students showcase current projects across a wide range of disciplines, from Communication Design to Museum Management and Conservation. Hochschule Anhalt: Open Day, Campus Festival and Dessau Design Show
The Dessau campus of Anhalt University invites design and architecture enthusiasts to explore, discover and participate. The departments of Architecture, Facility Management and Geoinformation, together with Design, present student work through exhibitions, presentations and installations. The Dessau Design Show additionally features current project and graduation work from the university’s bachelor’s and master’s programmes.
Hochschule für Gestaltung Schwäbisch Gmünd: Semester Exhibition
At the end of each semester, the HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd invites the public to its semester exhibition. Students present semester and graduation projects from programmes including Digital Product Design and Development – Design of Networked Systems, Interaction Design, Communication Design and Product Design, as well as the master’s programme in Strategic Design.
Berlin University of the Arts:
Rundgang – Open Days
Workshops, studios, rehearsal spaces and laboratories across Berlin University of the Arts open their doors at the end of the academic year. During the Rundgang, students from the faculties of Fine Arts, Design, Music and Performing Arts present their work. Visitors can experience painting, sculpture and performance alongside design projects, fashion shows, film screenings, concerts, dance performances and sound installations.
Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart: Rundgang 2026
Traditionally held at the end of the summer semester, the ABK Stuttgart’s annual Rundgang offers visitors the opportunity to look behind the scenes of the academy. Over three days, around 850 students open their studios and classrooms to present the latest projects and work developed throughout the academic year.
Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts Kiel: „Einblick/Ausblick“
For its annual exhibition Einblick / Ausblick (“Insight / Outlook”), Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design opens its doors to the public. More than 600 students from the fields of art and design present projects developed during the academic year. Over four days, visitors can experience a wide range of disciplines, from painting, drawing, photography, book design, video, sculpture and product design to scenography, interior design and multimedia installations.
Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle: Annual Exhibition 2026
Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle once again welcomes visitors to its annual exhibition. On display are diploma projects from the Faculty of Art and master’s projects from the Faculty of Design. The exhibition is complemented by “Take Off 2026 – Master Students of BURG”, featuring works by twelve postgraduate art students. Spanning painting, sculpture, installation, ceramics, drawing and film, the works explore questions of form and the artistic creative process.
