It’s happening: mcbw 2026 – Playground of Possibilities
Interventions in public space
For mcbw 2026, the architecture collective Studio Carraldo activates the southern lawn of the Alte Pinakothek with two wooden installations: Cappella del Suono, a walk-in structure, and Delulu, a labyrinth. Both works are open and experimental, inviting participation.
Studio adpa transforms Rindermarkt into a temporary public space installation with inflatables and flexible seating. Exhibition containers by IU International University and TH Nürnberg present interactive formats at Viktualienmarkt and Königsplatz.
Internationally Connected
mcbw is part of international networks. As a member of BEDA (The Bureau of European Design Associations), it connects European perspectives with Munich-based approaches in design. A key highlight is the BEDA Design Forum on May 8, 2026.
International exchange is also part of the programme. The Korea Institute of Design Promotion presents five design studios from Seoul and provides insights into contemporary Korean design practice.
At the Design Summit at Munich Urban Colab, international designers, makers, and thinkers come together. Speakers include Alice Rawsthorn, Marije Vogelzang, and Filippo Pagliani.
