Where Does 3D Add Value?

Virtual worlds are no longer the exclusive preserve of the gaming world. More and more companies are using three-dimensional designs for marketing, training and even recruitment. What changes when we find ourselves immersed in a virtual world, rather than simply consuming information in the form of two-dimensional text or video?

Content

Sven Köppel and Lukas Linden from wirDesign offer insights on the ndion podcast into the contexts in which 3D provides real added value. At the same time, they provide a basic explanation of terms such as AR (Augmented Reality), VR (Virtual Reality) and XR (Extended Reality). Drawing on their practical experience, they explain why we are still in the ‘Stone Age of the Metaverse’.

Three key insights:

  1. Three-dimensional immersion creates a more emotional, closer connection to the product or brand.
  2. New forms of storytelling are emerging – moving away from linear to sequential ways of thinking.
  3. 3D offers enormous added value, particularly in the areas of training and onboarding, as abstract information can be visualised and made tangible.
