Dieter Rams receives the WDO World Design Medal 2025

Dieter Rams, Honorary Member of our Foundation and President of the German Design Council from 1987 to 1998, has been awarded the WDO World Design Medal 2025 – a recognition of his outstanding and lasting influence on industrial design. The medal was presented on 9 September at the World Design Congress in London by WDO President Thomas Garvey and accepted on his behalf by Klaus Klemp. We warmly congratulate Dieter Rams on this honour!

As long-time Head of Design at Braun, Rams shaped generations of designers with his “Ten Principles for Good Design” and set standards that continue to resonate in today’s digital age. His work demonstrates with striking clarity how design drives products, companies, and societies forward.

The Rat für Formgebung Foundation (German Design Council) is a founding member of the World Design Organization (WDO), which advocates globally for the transformative power of industrial design.
