German Design Council Modernises Award Websites

The German Design Council modernises three of its award platforms: the online presences of the German Brand Award, German Innovation Award and German Design Award now form a unified digital ecosystem that makes design, brand management and innovation more visible, more accessible and more future-ready.

Developed in collaboration with Edenspiekermann and Schaffrath Digital, the three redesigned websites share a technical, visual and structural foundation: mobile-optimised, accessible, fast, clear, and ready for new digital formats.

A Strong Step Towards Digital Evolution

With this relaunch, a new digital phase begins: content becomes easier to access, users are guided more intuitively, and projects in brand management, innovation and design receive the visibility they deserve.

All three platforms now offer:

  • a fresh, contemporary design
  • clear information architecture and improved navigation
  • faster loading times and modern technical standards
  • accessible use across all devices
  • new opportunities for storytelling, jury insights and winner showcases

The three websites are independent yet follow a single strategic direction: making design, innovation, and brand management digitally experiential.

German Brand Award: A Platform for Strong Brand Leadership

The new German Brand Award website provides brand managers with all relevant information on submissions, the jury and distinctions – clearly structured and mobile-optimised. Best practices, insights and retrospectives on outstanding brand achievements now take centre stage.

“Our aim was to make the competition as tangible as we understand it: as a stage for brands that lead with conviction.”
— Annette Kießling, Project Lead

German Innovation Award: A Stage for Forward-Thinking Ideas

The new digital presence of the German Innovation Award shows how innovation is conceived, designed and evaluated. Submissions, jury statements and award-winning projects are presented with high usability. The technical foundation has also been renewed to support long-term digital growth.

“The biggest change happens behind the scenes: a new technical ecosystem that opens up entirely new possibilities for us.”
— Annette Kießling, Project Lead

German Design Award: A Platform for Excellent Design – Reimagined

The fully redesigned German Design Award website sets new standards in accessibility, user guidance and content structure. Projects, finalists and personalities are now fully accessible for the first time. This relaunch marks the beginning of continued digital expansion.

More Design. More Visibility. More Possibilities.

“With the relaunch of the three award websites, we are laying the foundation for the coming years of digital development: greater visibility for projects, brands and innovations; stronger connections between awards, programmes and community; and more efficient processes for entrants and award winners.”
— Lutz Dietzold, CEO

“We took the opportunity to rethink everything in depth – creatively, technically and editorially. The relaunch strengthens our long term digital future.”
— Annette Kießling, Project Lead

This transformation is far more than a visual update. It is a decisive step towards a modern, interconnected and future-ready digital landscape that highlights the power of design, brand management and innovation.
