Hessian State Prize for Universal Design 2026: Apply Now

The Hessian State Prize for Universal Design 2026 has launched. Innovative solutions are sought that demonstrate how design can contribute to greater inclusion, sustainability, and quality of life.

The Hessian State Prize for Universal Design 2026 has entered its new competition round. Companies, start-ups, designers, architectural practices, research institutions, as well as students and graduates from across Germany are invited to submit their projects.

The competition is looking for products, concepts, and technologies that convincingly embody the principles of “Design for All” and contribute to an inclusive, sustainable, and liveable society. The prize is awarded by the State of Hesse and organised and delivered by the German Design Council.

New this year is the collaboration with the Hessen Design Competition: selected students will have the opportunity to further develop their projects through a mentoring programme in cooperation with experienced experts and position themselves strategically in the market.

The competition is part of a special year for the region: with the World Design Capital, the Rhine-Main region will be in the international spotlight of the design scene. In the context of the 80th anniversary of the State of Hesse, the competition highlights the importance of design as a driver of societal development.
