Members Meetup With serien.lighting: 40 Years of Design at the Intersection of Technology, Architecture and Aesthetics
At the latest Members Meetup during Light + Building 2026 in Frankfurt am Main, members of the German Design Council Foundation came together for a special exchange. Hosted by foundation member serien.lighting, the event celebrated four decades of design through a spatial installation that brought the company’s design history to life.
Since its founding, serien.lighting has pursued a clear design philosophy: understanding light not merely as a functional element, but as an interface between architecture, technology and aesthetics. This approach continues to shape the company’s work today, guided by a consistent commitment to design quality, technical expertise and innovation.
In conversation with founders Jean-Marc da Costa and Manfred Wolf, it became clear how entrepreneurial courage, clarity in design and strong regional roots contribute to long-term success. Four decades of company and design history demonstrate how closely design, technological development and business strategy are connected.
